XP ntbackup can't verify iis.dll

I am experiencing a probably harmless but annoying problem
when trying to make a system state backup using ntbackup
on XP professional. Although shadowing is used the backup
process hangs for a few seconds when getting to iis.dll
but finishes ok. The verification run, however, reports a
failed verify of iis.dll. I am not running a web server
and IIS seems not to be running and the file iis.dll shows
a very old modification time. Excluding the file does not
work either. The system state backup seems to ignore the
file exclusion list.

Does anyone know if this is really harmless and why this
happens? I would like to be really sure that my automated
system recovery fileset is consistent.

Thanks in advance -AB

That is rather bizarre. I was not aware iis.dll was included
in the system state backup, for one thing. Including and
excluding files/dirs does not modify what is and is not in the
system state backup.
If you are not using IIS, then you should just uninstall it,
using Add/Remove Programs, Windows components

Thanks for the helpful advice.
I followed it and tried to uninstall but got an error
message after clicking on "add/remove windows components"
but before I got the window telling me what is installed
and what not: "setup lin iis.dll could not be loaded ...
err code 0x7e".
Then I trashed iis.dll and as expected the system replaced
the file. Miraculously I was now able to find out now that
IIS is and was not installed (the error in the control
panel had disappeared) and the system state backup worked
as well - but the ASR verify failed again because also the
content of the recycle bin is read and stored. After
emptying it it finally worked.
