XP drivers in additional drivers

Is there a way to add the XP drivers to the Additional
Drivers on a Windows 2000 Server shared printer.

I see a list of other OSs, but no XP and there's no 'Have
Disk' or any way to add to the list.

Is this because 2000 predates XP? Is there a way for add
them?

Both Windows 2000 and XP support the "Version 3" printer driver model, so
"XP Drivers" are also (in most cases) "Windows 2000" drivers and can be
installed natively on Windows 2000 computers. If you connect to the Windows
2000 print server's Printers folder from a Windows XP computer, click File,
Server Properties, Drivers, the "Version 3" drivers will show up as "Windows
2000 or Windows XP".

However, some "Windows 2000" drivers are actually "Version 2", which will
show up as "Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000".

See http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/AddDrivertoOldOS.htm for how to install
"Windows XP" drivers on a "downlevel" print server.

Hi Bruce,

I was reading your web page NetPrinterAllUsers.htm and you mention:

There is NO option in the Add Printer wizard to add a network printer
for all users of a computer, but the capability to do so does exists in
Windows NT, 2000 and XP.

You might want to amend this to remove the reference to Windows NT, as per-
machine printer connections are only available on Windows 2000 and later.

Regards,

Bill
