I have tried to backup my hard drive to CDs using the XP backup utility
several times. Each time everything seems to work fine until the first CD
is filled with data. Instead of being prompted to insert a new CD I get an
error message saying the media in a non-removable drive is full and the
utility quits. I found an article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base that
talks about a similar problem that occurs when you run the backup utility
from a command prompt (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 816449). However, I
was not running the backup utility from a command prompt. I followed the
instructions for a workaround to the problem per the Knowledge Base article
and got the same error message after the first CD was filled with data.
The workaround instructions say to manually run the backup utility from
within Windows XP instead of from a command prompt.
Has anyone else been able to run the backup utility using multiple CDs? If
so, do you have any ideas about what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
