XP Add/Remove program does not remove program

I had loaded a Linksys Wireless Laptop adaptor driver by mistake on the
PC (Laptop adaptor wasnt here so the install hung). I was supposed to
load the USB adaptor driver but both the Cds were so similar that I
didnt realize until the install went and hung on finding the netwok
adopaetr. So I stopped it and loaded the USB wireless adaptor driver
next, which finished successfully. But the Monitor utility that Linksys
loaded with the driver still keeps loking for the laptop adaptor. I
tried to remove it from the program by using the Uninstall or 'Remove
program' option from the add/remove program on control panel. In both
cases the Uninstall runs and goes to the finish screen with sucessful
completion message. But the monitor program still remains in the
add/remove list. I have tried it multiple times, disconnected the USB
adaptor and then did uninstall, several reboots, but nothing has worked.
The monitor program was also in the start up which I have taken out.
Can someone help me get rid of it so tha I can load the right monitor
for the USB adaptor. My network s also not connecting and I suspect it
is because of this as well.
Thak you in advance.

have you looked in my computer/right click/properties/device manager? if
you see any linksys devices there you can select and uninstall them. ive
had similar problems under XP on my laptop with a pcmcia linksys adapter
using the linksys utility. i ended up just installing hte driver without
the utility and using the built in XP wireless support and it works fine
now.
