xls file crashes 2002, opens fine in 2003

I've got an xls file that crashes Excel 2002, but opens fine in Excel 2003
and 2007.
There are no macros, its just a big phone list with names, titles, phone
numbers, and email address.

I've tried it on several workstations with Excel 2002 and they all display
the same message...
Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Jan. I tried opening the xls file from IE 6. But
received the same error message. I opened it via a workstation with IE 7 and
Office 2003. Tried what you mentioned in the link below, but still the same
error message.

Turns out there a graphic file that Excel 2002 does not like. Opens fine in
2003 and 2007. Once I removed the graphic, it opened up fine in Excel 2002.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply Jan. I tried opening the xls file from IE 6. But

error message.

You misinterpreted my message. No need for IE, it is all done from Excel!
