Word 2003 Tracking inactive but Word continuos tracking changes

Hi
I use Word 2003, Windows XP. This happens in one specific document:
although Track changes is turned off - TRK in status bar is dimmed -
some editing actions, not normal insertions and deletions but e.g.
copy-paste of a heading - are tracked as formatting changes in
balloons. The author information and date which appear in the screen
tip are a total mystery to me. - It's not the user in "user
information" and not the current date.
I can do an accept or reject of these changes, but I would like to
understand why they are tracked? Can anybody help?
Thank you, andre

I'm guess that these are tracked changes that were performed earlier and
have been hidden rather than accepted or rejected. On the Reviewing toolbar,
click the arrow beside Accept Change and choose Accept All Changes in
Document. Then save and close the document. When you reopen, do you still
see these changes?

If you're saying that Word is creating *new* markup in response to your
actions (and not just displaying markup that's already there but hidden),
then the document may be corrupt; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

Yes, I am afraid the document is corrupt. I've just discovered that
several documents - all based on the same template behave this way.
Thank you, andre
