wont save images as jpgs

I have been having the same problem on an occasional
basis. However, this has now become a permanant problem.
The file type only permits it to be saved as "bitmap"
which consumes 10 times the memory as a jpeg. I have not
been able to find anything in the settings that will
correct this problem. Hopefully someone has an answer to
this problem.

This question has been asked and answered so many times it is sad. Please
in the future scroll through previous postings before posting a question
that has been answered so many times.

You must empty your Temporary Internet Files, and be sure to include offline
content when doing so. Since you have not done this is a while, it may take
several minutes.

You can also delete cookies and history while you are there.
