WMP keeps going and going and...

So I am listing to music, and I decide to exit Windows Media Player (10, not
the beta 11). And when I do so by any means (X, File > Exit, Alt+F4, what
have you)... the music keeps playing. So I have to go to Task Manager's
processes tab and force-quit "wmplayer.exe".

If I don't have music playing, the process still stays running, but it's not
near as annoying. But it's still... not closing. What's up with this?

Thanks Byte, I gave it a shot, but no luck. I'm going to try a few things as
well. I have a partnership set up with ActiveSync with my Windows Mobile 5
pda/phone. It is set to sync music to my storage card from WMP... and I have
a sneeking suspision that it is the culprit. If you've ever used ActiveSync
you know that while the mobile phone is connected, Outlook will not
completely exit either, and I bet this is the same, except for the music
keeps playing as well.

I'm going to backup my data and remove activesync and that partnership with
the phone, and see what happens then. I'll report back.

No luck. Oh well, it's not like it's really doing anything other than really
annoying me for now, and it's on a computer that I plan on installing the
next vista beta on sometime next week... so it'll have fresh install of that
(or XP if that goes badly) no matter what, and nothin fixes problems like
format c:, lol.

Formatting "C" drive would be the extreme and last resort. Right now
the Vista beta version is still full of bugs and recommend you leave it
alone unless you have "7-day weekends".
