WMM freezes when clicking on "Capture from video device"

When opening WMM, it displays the first window. When clicking on "Capture
from video device", it hangs till I force-close it. The it sends error report
to Microsoft.
Running XPSP2. Genius VideoWonderPro III video card.

My card works perfectly with Genius TVR software for capturing the video.
I used Power Producer Gold for diting and writing but it messes up the
sound, so I thought I'd try WMM.

When trying to import the captured video into WMM, it get the following error:
C:\ppwork\BreakevenBudget.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from

Any idea what that means?

Hello,

MM does not work with MPG files.

Go take a look at www.videohelp.com/convert (best place on the web by far)
for a suitable conversion utility. You should convert to AVI or DV-AVI
whenever possible or WMV if you have hard disk space considerations

an AVI file that works with Movie Maker.
