Windows Xp set up error netoc.inf unable to open

When I click on start, set program access and defualty. then I chose
add/remove windowns componets. I get an error that says set up was unable to
open information file netoc.inf.
contact your system administrtor. the specific error code is 0x2 at line
2088999411. Can anyone help me fix this problem.

I still have the same problem. I think it may be becuase the solution you
provided me is do difficult for me to understand. I did try and got stuck on
what file to put in what box so on and so forth. I did what I thought was
right and I still have the same problem. Do you have any other advice or
solutions short of doing a full re install. Anyhelp is appreciated.
