Windows XP Professional Boot Screen missing 'Professional'

Hi All,

Just a question -- I noticed recently that the word 'Professional' has
disappeared from my Windows XP boot screen. Any idea why this would happen
and how I can get it back???

Thanks,

Dan

Service Pack 2 replaces all boot screens.

You can make your own modded version.

It disappeared when you installed SP2. Microsoft has decided that
it is easier to maintain a single splash screen instead of a
separate one for each of the four versions of Windows XP.

Short of uninstalling SP2, or creating your own splash screen,
you can't. But there's no need to. All functionality remains the
same regardless of what the splash screen looks like.

Right -- that's going to save many man-years. :)

(I'm not blaming the messenger, but if that's MS's stated reason it
seems quite extremely silly to me.)

To tell the truth, I'm not sure whether they've actually stated
that or not, but it's my understanding.

Silly? Perhaps. But I can't get excited about it one way or the
way. I don't need to be told what version I'm running and I just
don't care whether it says Professional or not.

Sure -- I can always do Help About if I need to check. I don't pay
any attention to the startup screen, to tell the truth. I just
can't believe that _not_ maintaining the screens frees up any
significant amount of manpower. I wouldn't describe myself as
"excited" about it. :)
