Windows XP pro reinstall/repair freezes at 13 minutes

I don't know if this question has been asked and answered. If it has I
apologize for repeating it. My problem is: While installing a new SATA drive
on my desktop an abundance of strange occurances happened while trying to
move Windows XP pro over to my new drive. After all was said and done, I
needed to repair my old drive's Windows and it froze at the 13 minute mark.
No matter how many times I try it gets to the same point. Can't get in
through Safe mode either, it wants to continue the reinstall. I have an old
drive with Windows XP on it and can boot up with that one and check my
original -- everything seems to be there, but I can't get it to boot. All I
can do is watch as it tries to reinstall/repair windows until it gets to 13
minutes. Any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks jakeb1

Youre going about it wrong....If the SATA drive is what you want xp to
operate on,then disconnect all other drives except cdrom, disconnect all
printers,
internet connection, etc, start computer in BIOS,set the BIOS to configure the
SATA drive, set to boot to cdrom, install xp cd,boot to xp cd,press F6 to
install
SATA controller drivers, continue to xp cd boot screen, select install xp,new
copy, delete partition(s),create one, then let xp format and install auto....

While it is possible you need the SATA drivers installed - if the Windows XP
installation sees the drive long enough to get to the 13 minute mark - then
that is unlikely to be your problem.

More then likely some card or external device is.. So yes - unhook
everything except the bare necessities - inside and outside your computer -
and try the install that way.
