Windows XP Pro keeps shutting down

I have just loaded a new version of XP and everything works fine except that
when left idle, instead of hibernating, it shuts down and reboots itself
instead of simply retaining the open applications (e.g. Internet Explorer) as
they were before closing down. Also, when I try to switch users, it closes
down and re-boots, instead of staying open and giving the option to click
onto a different user. Can someone please advise how to adjust the settings
to overcome this. Cheers!

Hi

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'.

If you don't see any error messages, right click on My Computer, select
Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under Startup and
Recovery and disable 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC reboots,
you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please post the Stop Code that
accompanies that BSOD back here? With that your problem could be isolated.

Hi! Sorry for the delay in responding. The cows are calving. Thanks a lot for
your help. The Stop Code was 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xBFA6FCBA, 0x8DF330c,
0x00000000) followed by ati3duag.dll - address BFA6FCBA base at BFA1C000,

Guessing it may have been a video card driver, I downloaded the new driver
