Windows XP DHCP allocator -dhcp server unreachable

I have an XP machine running ICS. Well almost :) I can
reach it fine with static addressing, but nay attempt to
set the network computers to DHCP instead of static
addressing results in the 169.xxx address and all
release/renew atttempts fail. I have checked to see and
the service is running -- I have run the wizard more than
once, unchecked and restarted etc all the standard drill
but still no DHCP allocations AAAAAAARGH!

Any help much appreciated.

I have the same problem, and also checked all of the
hardware. Worst thing is it used to run - but not now.

How do you check the service is running. I've checked
services, but don't know the name of the service.
