Windows updates fail

I appear to be unable to update Windows XP with any of the
critical updates and service packs etc., that are
available when I run Windows Update. They all fail, and
report the same in installation history. I log in as
administrator.

Any ideas?.

Add:
208.172.32.132 download.windowsupdate.com
to you hosts file.
I struggled with the same problem all weekend.
