Windows Task Manager shows high cpu activity at rest

I have a Dell P4 2.2MHz system, running XP Home SP1. I have noticed the
system running slow, so checking Task Manager, it indicates the "System" runs
continuously between 65 - 75%, with no programmes active. I have zapped all
bugs, trojans, viruses etc using several bug detection softwares, but still
running high. Anyone with thoughts or similar experiences? I am beginning
to suspect the cause maybe hardware related.

Hello Adrian,

Click the processes tab, then see which process is using up all your cpu.
Then just type that process into Google to see what it is, and what its
doing.
