windows sidebar opacity

my side bar only opens as a solid grey bar.
i would like it to be be totally opaic

I only want to see the gadgets not the sidebar background

Can anyone help on this please

I can't remember offhand but I think this is set through the Personalise
setting, have a look there and see if you can set the Aero transparency.
