Windows SBS 2003 Fax Service

A

Allan Browning

I have installed 2003 SBS with Exchange and Fax Service. However, the fax
service will not forward a fax to an email address. Nor can I manually
attempt to send an email because an error states:

"Mail system DLL is invalid".

After doing some research on the Internet, I attempted to change out the
mapi32.dll.

6.5.6944.0 - 620k - This is the DLL file that came with my installation of
SBS 2003

6.5.7226.0 - 621k - This is the DLL file that came with a client's
installation of SBS 2003

1.0.2536.0 - 111k - This is the DLL file that came with my installation of
Windows 2003 Standard

If I use either mapi32.dll 6.5.6944.0 or mapi32.dll 6.5.6944.0 Exchange
works but mail from the Fax service does not work.

If I use mapi32.dll 1.0.2536.0 the fax mail works but Exchanges does not.

Could someone tell me how to rectify this issue?

This is a known issue. You'd need to sacrifice either Exchange's
functionality or fax'.
