<windows root> system32\ntoskrnl.exe. missing or corrupt file

this message appears as soon as a pal of mine turns on his pc. this is all
that he can see on monitor. he cant use keyboard or mouse. so cant get into
his pc at all, is there any way he can get to use keyboard or mouse b4 this
message appears as it seems to freeze all programs. he is using xp with sp2

ty carey butt...
how can he use a link when the keyboard and mo0use are disabled ?/ he cant
even get out of the error screen.

Gen X Problem

You need to replace the file ntoskrnl.exr which is in your system32
directory. You can download a copy of ntoskrnl.exe from themexp.org or you
can extract the same file from Windows Installation Disk. then you need to
do this to get it replaced Boot your system using a Windows98 startup disk
(This disk should have the new file ntoskrnl.exe) and replace the existing
file like >>
del c:\windows\system32.exe
copy a:\ntoskrnl.exe c:\windows\system32

Then...
Restart your computer normally from the Hard Drive
