Windows Movie Maker file will not play in Windows Media Player.

I am just experimentiing with Windows Movie Maker. Having compiled some
video and still graphics, the only available format in which Windows will
save the file is *.MSWMM [I don't even understand what this stands for - I
have never come across a 5 character file extension before.]

When I attempt to open this file in Windows Media Player, WMP does not
recognise the file format. How come 2 Windows programmes don't recognise
each other?

The MSWMM file is the project file... it's like a recipe to bake a cake....
you tweak the recipe on paper... but you don't eat it.

To make the movie, open the project file in Movie Maker, the only thing that
can use it... and do a Save Movie... it'll give you choices of WMV and
DV-AVI file types.
