He meant "Stop *by* again..." because you are posting in the future. Fix
your clock.

Thanks for your help Raymond - don't know how the clock went off, but it's
fixed now.

Does anyone know how to fix my Media player problem though?

My first suggestion would be to check for updated video and sound card
drivers. Go to the manufacturer's website, not Windows Update for this.
Secondly, what version of DirectX do you have? Not sure if WMP10 is
requiring of this, but the latest version is 9.0c If you type "dxdiag" (no
quotes) in the Start|Run box, your installed version is there on the first
page. You can also run a number of tests from here re: sound and video.

I'm running XP Home Edition with SP2. I've around 50GB of free disk space
and have 512MB RAM installed. The processor is 2.6GHz Intel with 800FSB.

XP has performed well until I upgraded WMP9 to 10. Now some MP3 files will
play and some won't - the following is the main error message:-

C00D11D1: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there might be a problem
with the sound or video device, such as a sound or video card. The follwoing
is the typical error message:

"Your sound or video device might require an updated driver. To determine if
an updated driver is available, see the Windows Update page at the Windows
Update Web page at the Microsoft Web site, or see the sound or video device
manufacturer's Web site.

Error ID = 0xC00D11D1, Condition ID = 0x00000000"

However Real Audio PLayer and QT still work fine and WMP10 will play some
MP3 files OK. For video clips some play video only with a codec error
being flagged on the sound. So I can't believe it is a sound card problem.

I've re-installed WMP10 without success and install the WMP7+ Codecs again
without success.

How can I uninstall WMP10 fully or roll back properly to WMP9 which worked
great.

Best Regards

Steve
