Windows Logo Testing Error

When I go to re-install IE6SP1 I get the msg:

The Software You Are Installing Has Not Passed Windows
Logo Testing... " Error Message When You Try to Install
Internet Explorer 6 SP1
I have done MS Knowledge Base Article 828031 step by step
and still get the same error msg. Does anyone know of a
work around short of re-installing XP Home?

I had the same problem with IE6SP1 and I wasn't able to
load any MS updates and service packs. Saw a post that
suggested deleting the "CatRoot2" file in
C:\Windows\System32 directory. The file will reinstall
itself upon reboot. I deleted it, and tried to install the
updates and service packs. They all loaded perfectly with
no error messages at all. I then rebooted the pc and the
new CatRoot2 directory was back, but I can now update
without problems. Hope it helps!
