Windows installer won't install after "repair"

Windows installer won't install after "repair" from Dell reinstallation
disk. This is XP Home. Originally, installer wanted to reboot again and
again. Always failing and recommending a restart. I tried the
redistributable and ran into multiple problems attempting to write to
registry. I'm using an Admin account, I can't imagine what that's
about.

Any solution to this? I'd hate to reinstall but this is like chasing
your tail.

I don't know HOW much help this is going to be but...

1) I'm not sure how COMMON your problem is - though it may be as simple as
registry permissions.
2) I'm not sure WHICH you'd want to clean up in your case. *sighs*

So, caveat emptor but those should (hopefully) get you moving on the right
track if I understand your question correctly.
