Windows Installer Error won't let me Install/Uninstall ITunes

I am running XP SP2 and ran into this problem today.

After trying to upgrade my ITunes to it's newest incarnation, I got the
following error from Windows Installer... "The feature you are trying
to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" It then points
towards a Temp directory that does not exist when I browse for it.

I tried Uninstalling ITunes and I get the same error. I tried
launching ITunes and I get a Problem with Shortcut error box which says
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

I have found numerous posts online about this problem (most dealing
with other programs), but have yet to find a definitive answer or
workaround. I use ITunes everyday so I am really hoping someone can
help me. Any ideas or nudges in the right direction?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer (I use a Creative) or I'd offer but you might get
your answer from the vendor of said application.
