Windows Installer attempts to run

T

Installed Microsoft's Antispyware program. Appears to be
working and doing what it is supposed to do. However; now,
when I click on the program to either run a scan or to open
the program itself; a window's installer dialogue box pops
up and it attempts to install my Easy CD creator program. I
have looked at my file association's and can't find
anything that would suggest that this should happen. I
already have Easy CD creator installed and working. After I
hit cancel a couple of times the Antispyware program opens
and everything works. I am running XP professional with SP2
installed. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks inadvance.

This oddity results from some arcane interaction involving the Windows
Installer.

The best fix in your case would be a repair install of EZ CD Creator--i.e.
install that application over itself.

The problem is the result of what the Windows Installer sees as an
incomplete installation--reinstalling should fix it.

I'm leery of cleaning up after an existing and apparently properly installed
and functional app.

I recommend the cleanup app if the user has no idea where the app being
invoked comes from-i.e. they don't believe they have it installed and don't
know where to find it.
