Windows freezes when soundcard is installed

Brian

Hey all,

I have a:
Motherboard: Abit - KX7-333
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9000
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Audigy 2
Windows XP Pro.

I have all the latest drivers, updates, hotfixes, service
packs etc.

My computer boots up fine when only my video card and
modem are installed, as soon as I install the sound card I
will play a movie or mp3 or something and it will play for
about 8 seconds or less and then the screen simply
freezes. I reboot and the same thing happens over and
over and over,

My sound card is using IRQ 19
I called Creative and they said that it should be around 5
or something low but I have no way of doing this...
Someone help me Please!!!!
Thanks,
Brian

Brian, take a look at your Motherboard Manual and see what PCI slots
share IRQ's. Find a slot that doesnt. Also, if
you are not using any Serial Ports you can disable them in the Bios and
free up a couple of IRQ's.
