Windows Explorer uses Quicktime to play mp3s, and I want it to use the Windows Media Player

Uninstall Quacktime.

or

1. Right-click an .mp3 file and then click Open With.
2. In the Open With dialog box, click Windows Media Player or click Browse
to locate Windows Media Player.
3. Select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
check box.

Open Windows Media Player | Tools | Options |
File Types tab | Click the Select All button |
Click Apply | Click OK

Select All
[[Click to select all the file types in the File types list.]]

[[If you install other multimedia playback programs on your computer, they
may interfere with your Player file types settings. For more information
about setting file type ownership in other multimedia playback programs, see
the documentation that came with those programs. ]]

[[If you want to make another player the default player for a specific file
type, clear the check box for it in the File types list. ]]

[[If a selected check box is dimmed, Windows Media Player has only partial
ownership of the file type. Multiple file extensions are assigned to the
file type, but the Player only plays some of those extensions by default. To
give the Player full ownership of a file type, double-click the dimmed check
box. ]]

My bad ..... I see I misstated the problem .... Windows Explorer
already opens mp3 files with Windows Media Player ..... it's Internet
Explorer that opens them with Quicktime .... and that's the one I want
to change .....

Internet Explorer thinks that Quacktime is your default player, at least for
..mp3 files. Go into Quacktime options and disassociate file type .mp3. Go
into Windows Media Player and reassociate file type .mp3.

Look at whatever other options Quacktime has, look at Quacktime help.
