Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close........

I get the error message every time I am on the net. The choice to "Send Error Report" or "Don't send" still means Internet Explorer crashes. I have installed all updates. I don't really want to go into the registry for this.

Brian,

You can turn off the error reporting. You don't need it. That is a common
problem. Goto control panel - System Properties - Advanced tab - Error
Reporting Button at the bottom - check the disable Error Reporting - click
OK - then click apply - Done . No more pesky error reporting messages.
When I first go XP it drove me nuts until I figured out how to turn it off.
You can search Error Reporting and it will walk you through turning it off.

Good Luck
