Windows Defender and Windows Live One Care

Had Defender (1592). Uninstalled it to reinstall with newest. Got message I
must uninstall WLOC. Am I doing something wrong? That would leave me without
protection. Are WD and WLOC not compatible?

Are you using Windows Live OneCare 1.5 beta? You should not
install/run Defender apart from OneCare 1.5 as the protection and
scanning functions have been incorporated into OneCare, so OneCare 1.5
will disable Defender.
Version 1.1, currently the released version of OneCare for
subscribers, does not include Defender and it is installed and run in
addition to OneCare 1.1

Thank you for info. Had Defender prior to installing Beta WLOC, and had no
problems until tried to update Defender. You're right - now I recall Fefender
was always shut down, and I was usinf for manual scanning. Will leave system
without Defender until eligible for final WLOC subscription (Canadian
customer).
