Windows 2000 hangs up after installation of SP1

Just downloaded and installed SP1 to my Wndows 2000
Professional. Now when I boot, at the box which says
Preparing Network Connections, it just sits there. The
middle gradient band is moving from left to right. Anyone
have any idea how to fix this?

Why not install SP4?

Does this occur after you enter the password/login credentials?

You may want to [F8] at boot time and see if you can't do a 'last known good
configuration.'

Also, you could try to boot into safe mode and see if it will let you in
that way - really, I would just download and install SP4 on that box if at
all possible.
