Did anyone else get the Windows 10 upgrade notice this morning? I saw an icon in the notification area and clicked it to find this:

I guess they may be rolling it out in stages, as anyone with 7,8,8.1 qualifies :).

Hmmm is it available to DL and install at a later date? I'm not sure I want to install over my current installation of 7 yet

Got it, Reserved it. I'd rather do a fresh install, but we'll see how it plays out, You don't have to install it. :)

Sorry for the ambiguity - I wasn't referring to the choice of upgrade to 10 - but to the no choice automatic updates once its installed - as I read about on CNET. And then of course there is the specter of the ultimate switch to "windows as a service". NOT the path I want to be on.

I hadn't noticed the icon until I read this thread but it was there and I've reserved my copy for this machine.

I shall certainly give it a fair crack of the whip, let's hope it's a goodie and they've learnt from their last 'upgrade'.

As I've mentioned before, I will back up my current Win 7 install using Acronis True Image then if I'm not happy with the newest Microsoft offering I can soon go back to things as they were.

Looks like a win-win situation to me though not too happy if having to have automatic updates is a proviso. We shall see.

Also got to think about all those saved games that are scattered all over the place on drive C.

Nothing new there, just the same old stuff.

And nothing about it in the Updates.

for those people who do not yet see any icon/indication in your taskbar, may want to check their 'optional' updates.

Like, this one maybe. :)

Downloaded the latest updates about 30 minutes ago and I notice that KB3050265 is one of them. Should I now have the said icon in my taskbar? It's not there yet. :)
