Win2K keeps finding "UNKNOWN PCI DEVICE"

R

Richard Melville

I did a re-install of Win2K on a Dell Dimension 4100 (about 6 years old).
Everything works perfectly, except:
On every boot up W2K finds an UNKNOWN PCI DEVICE and tries to install it.
The device appears to be related to the USB system, but both USB ports work
as they should.
Here is the information that I can find about the "device":

PCI BUS 0 (zero)
Device 31
Function 3

I/O range EFA0-EFAF
IRQ 9

(One of the USB drivers has similar information, but is function 2)

I can deal with the nuisance, but would rather not.

Thanks Dave -- that did the trick. The unknown device must have been the
USB system, which apparently require the Intel drivers to show up correctly
in device manager.
