Windows XP win2000 restarts after loading personal settings

I just recently installed registry shower in pc. after the installation, I was asked to restart the pc. However, the pc restarts after loading my personal settings. what could be the problem and what can I do. I have tried re-installing win 2000 under a new folder to then replace all instances of the new folder with WINNT, but to no avail. pc continues to restart.

Does Win2000 load in safe mode and did you back up your registry before running that reg cleaning application?

win2000 restarts after loading my personal settings

No, I didn't back up my regisrty before running the reg cleaning software. If I try to run win in safe mode, the same problem happens again. The system restarts just about when it has to display the desktop. I have also tried booting using the win2000 cd but the problem cannot be fixed. When I first switch on the pc, these are the events/stages it goes through:

• Starting windows 2000
• Starting up screen
  
• windows2000 is starting up
• Log on to windows2000

after typing my user name and password,

• loading your personal settings

thereafter, instead of applying my personal settings, it re-starts
