Win16 subsystem was unable...and PageMaker 6.5

Tom O'Connell

Recently I encountered a problem with my PM6.5, so I
decided to reinstall it on my PC. When I try to open the
installer I get the message "The Win16 subsystem was
unable to enter Protected Mode, DOSX.EXE must be in your
AUTOEXEC.NT and present in your PATH.

I have read the solution on the microsoft site (article
168925), but do not know how to find the .pif file. When
I explore the disk, no file has this extension that I'm
aware of. How can I change the executable name if I can't
find it?

Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem? I need to
use my PageMaker!

Thanks

I get the same message have have the same problem finding .pif files. We seem to be forgetting that TECHNOLOGY DOESN'T WORK, and we keep pretending it does. I can only get help from Microsoft...for $245. Talked to a living human being in the past two years? I haven't.
