Win XP's Compatibility Checker crashes on my Win ME PC

Paul Tomlinson

I am trying to Run the Compatibility checker from the
Windows XP CD and it keeps crashing on my Windows ME
computer after it gets about 3/4 of the way through. I
have tried using the up to date checker by downloading
the files from the web and I have tried using the
standard checker on the cd (without doing the download)
and still I get the winnt32 has caused a fault in kernel
something and has to close. I have tried restarting my
machine but this does not fix it.

Hi Paul,

Yes, continue eliminating other background programs until it does run.
