i know people may have done this a long way back and i am a new kid
for this but i have tried the tips all on the set up still cant get
through host to web please see this for last time thank you,

1) host gets internet through a proxy 31.n.n.1, host's ip assigned is
31.n.n.152 its network adapater is miniport ISDN card with all file
sharing disabled also referingt he web help i disabled the netbuei and
file sharing and now only tcp/ip is enabled in network properties of
isdn, both ip and dns config is autudetect type from proxy etc actualy
the proxy is not accessible here this is my office network etc host
runs 2000 pro

2) i wanted to share this host's internet with my pc so i installed
another d link card in my and is pc now the settings are as follows
host LAN card dlink having ip assigned by the network sharing enabl
feature on isdn card properties (when iselected it the lan card got
automatically 192.168.0.1 and dns and wins were left blank) subnet
mask is 255.25.255.0 i made a work group SIMPLEX and my client pc (my
pc) is win xp pro its adapter is configured for auto detect ip and dns
and with ipconfig i found it is 192.168.0.n with gateway 192.168.0.1
(2000 host)

3) i am able to se and do file sharing between xp and 2000 with a
password request from 2000 when xp asks a file view etc also i am able
to ping to xp seing the ip from ipconfig and rev also at host also i
am able to ping to the ip assigned to the ISDN connection that is
31.n.n.152 seeing its ip from the details of connection icon.
i learnt also that i should not be able to ping the proxy or the
service provider that is 31.n.n.1 from either of host 2000 and client
xp and i really cant do it so its not a problem.

4) now my cable is cross and also the internet connection's LAN
setting boxes are clear in both host and client

5) i learnt about the netbios installation on host and client
interactions (but i am having the file sharing isnt it a sign that it
is fine?) i have seen these and the host LAN adapter has netbios (note
the ISDN adapter i disbaled the netbios not the LAN's) and the xp has
not clearcut netbios but something written as nwlink netbios and
nwlink ipx/spx/netbios compatible etc i will try to save those two
files to that destinations i have that info (this is evening and i
must go now)

6) i had setup the internet connection sharing on host there is on
demand dialing enabled (i am always connectd on host) also i ahev set
up the xp for home office small network using the wizard and i ahve
set up the internet connection manually with no autodetect proxy or
script etc also as i said the internet tools have no boxes checked in
connection-->LAN settings
shall i add a dial up there?

7) officially my proxy shall be clever to avoid such multipliaction of
ofice internet as his isdn linie is assigned to my section head and
the administartor there may not like the breach in his distributon
right zone! you know what i mean!

please fine some solution for me and do it quick as i may be involved
in other work to not find enough time to do this experiment etc

bye bye

it did work once the client's internet settings
internetexplorer-tools-internetoptions-connection-LANoptions-proxy
settings
were added just the way host is having in its internet connection dial
up connection settings.

i forgot to mention that since the host itself gets the connection
through a proxy the client needed that setting too which was not listed
in the helps and other resources, it was assumed that the dial up is
not taking place through any proxy etc for general user etc so they
asked blank in both proxy settings of cleint and host LAN etc

it means that the the way host gets connected the same way the client
must.

now i have a internet shared terminal (client) which is having another
LAN card for downloaded file sharing to others, the sharing is enabled
on the host only and the workgroup ip subnet addresses are set to be
192.0.0.n for the LOcal lan (client) to keep the invisibility of the
internet pc which is at 192.168.0.1 with DHCP assigned ip to client.
also the client has a secured access by guest account only and that way
the sharing is controlled.
