Will SQL 2005 and VS 2005 run on same machine?

Hi,

I'm trying to get a head start learning SQL2005 and VS2005. I've
purchased books and downloaded articles on both. Last night I installed
SQL2005 on a newly formatted Win2003 server machine. This machine is
strictly used for testing beta products. Now I'd like to install the latest
beta release of VS2005 on this same machine. Are there any known issues with
installing both of these beta products on the same machine? I imagine that
there ARE -- but is this setup workable enough to run through some tutorials
and play around? I don't care if I have to re-format the machine when the
release products come out.

Thanks...

If you have different versions of the build you will have a problem b/c it
each will ask you to uninstall the others version of the framework. If you
have the newest builds, install SQL Server first then VS. That's the only
way I could get it to work - there may be another work around but I sure
couldn't find it.

You have some magic that I don't have, because I couldn't get them both to
work on the same machine, even with installing SQL first and then VS. It
has to do with the particular build of the framework. I ended up dropping
SQL, putting in VS, playing for a while, reformating and moving to just
vanilla WS2003 with two Virtual Servers: one with WS2003 running Yukon and
one with WS2003 running Whidbey

Now that works.

Run the SQL 2k5 install first, or you will have to uninstall the Framework
to get the SQL version installed. After that, they fly together rather
nicely.

I had no problems after installing SQL first, but I went for a fresh VPC
instance, which may be the difference. I am also running Win 2k3 in my VPC
instance.
