Will Partion erase files?

Hi:

I've upgraded my machine and take an hard drive from an old machine
with info I need on it and installed in the new XP Machine. Windows
Explorer does not see the drive. I understand I have to partition this
drive and my question is, will this erase any info on that drive?

You shouldnt normally need to do that in that particular situation.

Yes, if you partition it now, you wont be able to see the data on it.
