Wierd delete error

Daniel Parsley

I recently bought this computer and am a new xp user though fairly
proficient with all previous versions, so not having much trouble adjusting
once I changed settings to make it stop treating me like I was an idiot.

But I've been ripping my cd's into the new computer and I have had the
weirdest error. I rip mostly using a registered version of musicmatch 10 but
also with windows media player. WMP has a faster and more reliable rip
engine but this is detracted by not allowing me to use (space)(dash)(space)
as a divider between file name categories. Rather letting me choose either
(space) or (dash) but not assuming that with a (dash) I would want spaces.
The cd info lookup is also not as reliable when I want to manually change
the selected disc choice. It often will allow me to find the cd I want but
when I try to apply the settings it says the service is not available.
As such I rip using MMJB 10 unless the rip produces errors - MMJB often
encodes with the skips in a damaged cd where WMP removes them.

The problem however is that I had a cd I ripped on MMJB in my rip directory
that produced errors. This being the first time it happened I had not
refined my system for what to do in this case, though I have now.

Both programs rip to the same directory - that being My Documents/My
Albums/Artist Name/Album Name.

In this case I changed the cd from e: drive to the DVD drive d: and began
the rip with WMP. I then went into the drive to delete the old copies of the
cd that was now burning. I believe that this is when the error happened, but
I'm not sure.

The bottom line is that I wound up with a folder in my recycle bin, on my
desk top, and in my My Albums Folder that I can not delete. I get an error
saying the file can not be found, and I should check the file name and path.
when I try to enter the file in the My Albums folder or the one on my
desktop I get a different phrasing of the same error referring to a possible
network drive etc but basically saying the folder is unavailable.

When I tried creating a folder with the same name on my desktop and placing
it in the folder containing the folder giving me an error - hoping that it
would do the already contains a folder of this name thing so I could merge
them and then delete them, it instead allows a second copy of the same
folder to be placed in the folder as if it is indeed not there but when I
try to delete the folder that contains it I get can not delete folder Later
That Day..: Folder is not empty.

Somehow windows things the folder has something in it but cant find the
folder to let me get in it.

I'm sure this is more detail then is needed but I have trouble not making my
mind wander in circles when it gets to this point of frustration

Thanks, Daniel

Make sure this folder isn't in a Play List for Media Player
