Why won't PDF files open?

Update

When I click on a link to a PDF file from IE, Acrobat does not launch and the
file does not open. I am running XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 2 and IE 6.0. I
have tried removing and reinstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.01 and the
problem persists. Everything worked fine with Service Pack 1. Is there any
hope for an answer on this problem? Note, that if I download the PDF file it
will open.

If I save the PDF file, it will open from a saved location. Prior to Xp
Service Pack 2, I could open a PDF file link without saving the file; now it
does not work to just open a PDF file link. Do you have any ideas?

I found the answer. Here it is: I had the same problem. The work around
was to save the pdf file, then it would work. The solution is to cofigure
acrobat reader 6.0: Shut down IE, Start Adobe Reader, Choose Edit
Preferences, Select Internet in the list on the left, Deselect Display PDF in
Browser, and click OK. Restart IE. Does this help.
