Why won't my Movie Maker file play in Media Player 8.0?

John

I made a movie at home with digital pictures and a sound
overlay, and it plays fines on my home edition of media
player (ver 9.0). However, at work, I have version 8.0
and all it plays is the sound with the default
visualizations. I'm lost - any help out there?

Thanks,
John

Hi there,

I would recommend that you install version 9 on the machine that has
version 8 on it.

A version 8 player should automatically get the needed codecs from a
Microsoft server and play the WMV movie file. But the computer has to be
connected to the internet at the time, and your network at work has to not
block its getting it.

You can get the full pack of codecs and install them at work. There's a link
on my Setup... Software page. If you upgrade WMP to version 9 and still
can't get the codecs, you might not be any better off.
