Why the nod32.com server "went down"

Direct from one of the NOD32 execs present at the FutureEx expo in Cape Town,
South Africa last week:-
(not quite in his words) "Our technicians forgot to renew the nod32.com domain
and it lapsed"

interesting...

Shit happens. I work with enough engineers and techs to know that when
they are working technical issues, they aren't concentrating on the
business side of things.

if you think that's interesting then you'll be absolutely enthralled by
the fact that i occasionally clip my toenails...

blah... your response explains much. Ever wondered what it means for a digital
security company to have their website go down? It doesn't look good. And when
the company happens to offer IMO one of the better AV products, and more to the
point, when updates are offered via that site, it means *something*

You need to go see someone about that paranoia.

I think Tosis has a good point. I understand that engineers don't pay
attention to minute details such as when an annual registration becomes due,
but the management of the company sure should. And if the management isn't
paying attention to keeping it's own house in order, how confident do you
feel they are looking after yours?

Having said that, management needs a tongue lashing, give the engineers a
raise because they make such a good product.

why? it's not the first time it's occurred for a large company, and i
doubt it'll be the last. Only those with nothing better to do would
raise more than an eyebrow about it ...

I guess they were too busy working on what is undoubtedly the best AV
solution available ...

is your head naturally that shiny or are you sporting tinfoil?

the event in question is not a pattern, it is not a trend, it is a blip
on the radar... interpret it as the falling of the sky if you wish but
don't expect to be taken seriously...

yeh,,like the time "management" didn't do basic newbie stuph
in checking the GO button _did_ work when announcing the
release of a new product. Even worse when you consider that
Sales had been touting the product as the ultimate FIXIT
solution for their product line....mmmmmmmm..makes you
wonder all right!

Mayhap even an "engineered" outcome..for all Clickity
Klickers?

different company = different historical background = different outcome
in the 'is this a trend' determination...

and if you think you can use microsoft's behaviour to infer something
about the makers of nod32, i suggest you look up the term "non sequitur"...
