Why Save As and Rename functions are dimmed ?

Jean

Hi,

We are in MSACCESS 2000 .

Just want to know under what circumstances the Save As and Rename functions
will be dimmed in the File Menu or Shortcut menu when you clicked on a query
object ?

Thanks

Jean

Jean,

You can use the 'SaveAs' and 'Rename' when you have a
TABLE, QUERY, REPORT or FORM selected and/or opened. When
none of the objects are selected the menu items are dimmed
out.

John,

Yes, under the condition when a query is selected or the query is opened,
the "Save As" is still dimmed. Is there any system control that prevent the
user from using "Save As " ?

Thanks

Jean

One circumstance comes to mind ...

If the database was not created in Access 2000 but in Access 97, for
example, you can open it in its original format but not make any changes to
it. A Save As would not be permitted in that case.
