why does my text appear slowly

As I type in Microsoft Word, my text does not appear until the it has time to
process. Depending on how much text between pauses they delay can be longer
or shorter depending on how muc it has to process. I can be typing a string
of letters or words and it would take 5seconds for it to appear. I do not
know why.

I have 2Gb of RAM and plenty of HDD space. Typing in other programs is fine.
It's olny microsoft word. I've tried it on all other workstations at my work,
and the words appears instantly as it is being typed.
