Why does Messenger start auto when I open Outlook?

When ever I open Outlook Express6, Windows Messenger
appears to sign me in automatically. The messenger icon
comes up at the bottom right of the task bar even though
I have set messenger to not open when windows starts or
to not run in the background. I have set these options
from the messenger options pane.

To fix this, close down Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:
