Outlook 2002. I forward / reply to messages and although 'place a copy of
sent items in sent items folder' is checked, they do not appear there.
They appear in the folder set up for the original sender (this is governed
by Rules - is the problem there?).

In Tools -> Options -> Preferences -> Email Options -> Advanced Email
Options, uncheck the "In folders other than the inbox, save replies with
original message" option.

Jeff, thank you, it worked.
I took an old message [that was received and not forwarded or replied to]
that had this problem and replied to it. When sent, a copy now appeared in
the 'sent items' folder.
Suggestion: maybe it's me, but the instruction to uncheck has four elements,
so when reading it , you can 'feel' it's a good idea to check it, without
having really understood it. I still don't to be honest. I wonder if it could
be written more simply?
The relationship between the problem and solution is hard to understand.
Main thing is it's OK. Thanks again.

Regards.

Although my symptoms were slightly different than yours, I post here in case
it will help anyone. I had all the right boxes checked or unchecked (as
detailed in the previous posts) -- the only thing wrong was I had a filter on
that kept me from seeing the messages, even though they were in the Sent
Items folder all the time. View/Current View/Customize Current View/Filter
-- turn it off & presto!! I feel kind of stupid, but at least it fixed it!!
