Why do all on-line .jpgs now only save as .bmps?

My Windows directory got corrupted a couple of weeks ago, which required me
to get my computer to repair it. Since then, there have been a million little
things to put back right. One of them inexplicably happened a few days ago.
Now, all images on-line--when I go to save them--only will save as "untitled"
bitmaps. Anyone know what could've caused this, and (more importantly), how
to fix it?

Hi rch427 :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

IE saves images in BMP format only

Tools>Internet Options. Delete Temporary Internet Files and
Check *Include Offline Content.*

also...

First...open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)
Go to a folder where you have some of the .gif files
Highlight one then click on Tools on the top toolbar
Click on Folder Options>File Type tab
Scroll down the list until you find the .gif icon
Highlight it and click OK
Close Windows Explorer and then reopen
This should change the files to the .gif icon.

and....

Internet Explorer Does Not Save Graphics Files in the Proper Format

To restore the default file association, go to
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Download, unzip and merge the REG file, "JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix"
Some image/graphics programs will change file associations.

Hope this helps

Jan :)
