Why Am I forced to buy PFCMedia

G

Guest

I recently had problems inserting a video in a presentation and everyone said
use PFCMedia. I downloaded it and it worked great. In inserted all sorts of
videos PowerPoint wouldn’t. But then I seen that to keep using it, I have to
fork over $50 to a Micro$oft MVP named Austin Myers. That is bull crap!!!
Why doesn’t PowerPoint do this automatically and why is Micro$oft setting
everyone up so they have to pay the Micro$oft MVPs? Aren’t these guys
supposed to be working for free? This is just another way for Micro$oft to
rip off users and I am not doing it. Austin Myers will have to find a
different way to rip me off cause I am not about to pay him for something
PowerPoint should do!!! If Micro$oft cared about users at all they would
make Austin Myers hand over this program and we could download it for free
like all the other Micro$oft add ins. PowerPoint should have had this a long
time ago!!! The only reason it doesn’t is so they can line the pockets of
the MVPs!!!! Anyone paying for this add in and not insisting Micro$oft make
it available is STUPID!!! Micro$oft, everyone can see what you are doing
here and how you don’t care about fixing problems when you can rip users off
for even more money. Mr. Myers, you are the lowest of the low. You are
supposed to be helping users for free, not finding ways to rip us off!!! MVP
in your case must mean “Money Victim Pwnedâ€!!!

I am sitting here and trying to decide if you are simply stupid or just plain funny..

Who r u punishing by not buying? not MS, it not even Austin Myers, just your silly little self.

MS can not invent any plugin for any purpose one has, so, people like Myers find their opportunities and TAKE TIME AND EFFORT to build something for others to use. TIME IS MONEY as you may or may not know. an MVP will share his knowledge with you for free - BUT NOT HIS HARD WORK!

Thank you.

Tried four or five ways of saying the same thing and none of them came out
half as well.

Three things come to mind when I read this:

1. I am reminded of the BASF commercial. "We don't make the things you buy.
We make the things you buy better."

2. The amount of rant you are exhibiting is directly proportional to the
benefit you have seen by PFCMedia. Must speak well for the program! Go
Austin, you rock!

3. Since the program is obviously soooo good, Microsoft ought to buy it from
Austin and include it in the next version of Microsoft Office. Of course,
the next version would have cost you $450.00, but it is now going to cost
you $500.00. I'm sure you will be happier with that!

I've spent many hours ripping what's left of my hair out when I've tried to
insert sound and movies that just didn't quite work out right. Since I
started using PFC, I've had no trouble with anything that I've inserted with
the add-on. Tha't the major reason I've been recommending that people use the
product. It WORKS!!! And you know what???? My hair has even started to grow
back. Thanks Austin!!!

There you go ...

Consider the price of a halfway decent rug (IS there such a thing?) or worse
yet, a transplant job. With all the money saved, you can afford to buy us all
lunch! Thai? ;-)

I think you've answered the question/suggestion yourself

It would be nice if powerpoint did this straight out of the box. It would be
nice if powerpoint did a lot of things straight out of the box. Like
converting to DVD. But unfortunately it does not.

The fact that someone has gone out of their way (Austin) to create something
that

A) makes life easier
B) actually works

is a credit to Mr Myers

I guess it probably took a long time to create, test, test, test some more,
release to the public, tweak and test somemore.

If the add-in saves you time - then it's worth something IMHO
Re: Why Am I forced to buy PFCMedia

If you spend any length of time, in this newsgroup, you will see that all
MVPs do give away their valuable time answering questions for many years.

Others have responded well to part of this discussion, but I think the
original poster is misunderstanding what an MVP is. I became an MVP
because I was helpful. It is basically an award for things I have done
(that is, help I have given users). As an MVP, there is no expectation
that I will continue to do anything, including being helpful (although if
I stop being helpful, I assume that I won't get renewed as an MVP for
next year). As an MVP, I do get some added opportunities to connect with
people inside of Microsoft, but this is mainly so they can help me to be
helpful in the future. I think that Microsoft benefits because they like
to have people help others use their products. MVPs benefit because they
get recognized for being helpful. Users benefit because they get answers
to questions.

Remember that becoming an MVP is an award. It is not a contract with
Microsoft. MVPs are under no obligation to do anything.

Now, if I see a problem with PowerPoint, I will certainly tell Microsoft
about it. But I think they will listen to you just as much as they will
listen to me. Additionally, I will try to find a way to solve the problem
with whatever resources I have (none of which come from Microsoft). If I
put a lot of work into the solution, and I think others will like it, I
can choose to give it away or to sell it. None of this really has
anything to do with whether Microsoft gave me an MVP award.

Hmmmm.... I am a software engineer. I write software that enhances the use
of computers beyond what the basic operating system (Windows) provides. I
guess Windows should include remote spectrum analyzer functionality so you
can evaluate the radio spectrum and perform analysis of transmissions.
Please post your correct email address and I will forward copies of all the
software products my company designs including source code. I will
obviously need a new job so if you have anything available please let me
know.

Thanks.

Aw... You beat me to it. I was going to mention the great casserole dish I
added recently to OutdoorCook.com. see the recipe here:
http://www.outdoorcook.com/article1073.php

Not to mention the great extra effect some kids did with our chocolate cake
recipe in class over the weekend: They soaked dried cherries in
cranberry-cherry juice for about a half hour, put them in the bottom of the
pan, then put the chocolate cake mix over top. Came out great and looked
pretty too!

Spittin' Mad!!!

I recently had problems cooking a denver omelette on my new GE stove
and everyone said use an omlette pan. I borrowed an omelette pan from
my neighbor and it worked great. It cooked all sorts of omeletts and
the eggs didn't drip down through the coils. But then I seen that to
keep using it, I have to fork over $20 to my neighbor. That is bull
crap!!!
Why don’t GE stoves cook omelettes automatically and why is GE setting
everyone up so they have to pay for cookware? Aren’t my neighbors
supposed to be giving me cookware for free? This is just another way
for GE to rip off hungry people and I am not doing it. My neighbor
will have to find a different way to rip me off cause I am not about
to pay him for something my GE stove should do!!! If GE cared about
my appetite at all they would make my neighbor hand over his
specialized cookware and I could use it for free like all the power
tools I've borrowed from him and never returned. GE should have had
omelette pans a long time ago!!! The only reason they don’t is so
they can line the pockets of my neighbor!!!! Anyone paying for
omelette pans and not insisting GE give them away is STUPID!!!
GE, everyone can see what you are doing here and how you don't care

money. My neighbor is the lowest of the low. He's supposed to lending
me everything for free, not finding ways to rip me off!!!
NEIGHBOR in your case must mean "Not Entirely Interested Getting Home
Boy's Omelettes Ready"!!

You make a very good point and I can understand where you are coming from. You might miss a few points here and there like for the fact that Mr. Myers isn't actually a worker of Microsoft and separate from the company, but one point still remains.

$50 is just too expensive for an add-in. The highest price I've seen is $10. This guy who made it and claims to help us doesn't really sound like a guy trying to help us. He just wants our money and until somebody comes up and makes one similar to his, nothing will change.

I really want it and I am going to pay for it, but I'm not grateful for it. I hate myself for feeling weak and going down to the lowest self possible. I really wouldn't do it, but I'm desperate. I need it for work and stuff.

I hate Mr. Myers for what he's done and I literally don't understand why people would hammer you so hard. You were brave enough to say it and these guys are just cowards who can't accept this. That guy who called you stupid because you missed a few important points, he's the real stupid one.

Sure Mr. Myers wasn't of Microsoft, but charging $50. That's wrong! Here's my face:
