Whom to trust--AVG or Google?

I have AVG-free, use IE7, and search with Google.
My AVG says certain sites are 'ok,' green-check, good to go, but when I click on them, Google says they are not ok. BUT when I try to enter the 'badware' explanation of why, I always get a 'server error.'
So...do I trust AVG or should I find another way to get the information I need for my research?
NEVER MIND--JUST FOUND IAN'S POST THAT GOOGLE'S GONE NUTS ON WARNINGS. Since I was searching 'pagan', I thought it might be a real threat, but model trains??? So...cancel my question.

Don't worry about it if it's a site that you checked in the last hour, Google has had a problem today. I've made a post on it (https://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3729767.php) but it seems to be back working now for me.
