Which connection would you like to use?

My Windows XP system normally connects to the network via a wireless
LAN, but I also have dial-up networking installed for when I am out
of wireless range.

Sometimes, when I'm using my wireless access, a window pops up telling
me that I have requested information [from some server I'm using] and
asking which connection I would like to use. The only option presented
is my dial-up account. So I hit "cancel" and continue using my wireless
access.

How can I prevent this annoying pop-up from happening?

I already tried this: I opened Internet Explorer, pulled down Tools,
selected Internet Options, and on the Connections tab chose "Never dial
a connection." However, this did not stop the annoying pop-up.

What else can I do to keep it from bothering me?

Just open Network Connections and select Never dial a connection. You'll be
able to dial when needed, but the default is the LAN. I keep a dialup
shortcut on the Desktop for ease of use.

Thanks, Mary.

As I noted, I did select "Never dial a connection" in MSIE's
Tools/Options/Connections dialog.

I looked in Control Panel / Network Connections and didn't see
a checkbox with that title there. Can you please help me find it?

Thanks again,

- Rich
